The Dinaric Alps stretch from Slovenia in the northwest to Albania in the southeast, and east into Serbia. They’re rugged, rocky and as we entered the bay of Kotor, clouds met them in a wall of grey-ness. It was quiet and the water was still below us as we paddled. Our kayaks glided over the water and we seemed to have the bay to ourselves. Later we took a water taxi to the city. My mom and I climbed through the cobbled alleys in the town while the men found a place to enjoy the Montenegrin food and drink.
